PC (Polycarbonate)

Polycarbonate plastic, often referred to by the abbreviation PC, is an amorphous thermoplastic with good electrical properties combined with superior impact strength and moderate chemical resistance. Polycarbonate is a very versatile material choice for a large number of applications. Whilst PC has a low moisture absorption, it isn’t suitable for use in humid environments where the temperature exceeds 70°C, where hydrolysis causes a significant deterioration of the mechanical properties and impact resistance.

Polycarbonates offer:

  • Low moisture absorption till temperature of 70°C
  • Impact resistance
  • Moderate chemical resistance (low solvent resistance)
  • Good Machinability
  • Excellent dimensional stability
  • Rigidity over a wide range of temperatures
